We are looking for a Tool & Die Specialist (Engineer)
Responsible for supporting Tool and Die excellence across AMTBNA, with a focus on Canadian and U.S.-based sites. The incumbent will ensure the quality of blanked parts through on-site tool and die support and oversee new tooling launches within the AMTBA APQP process. This position involves implementing World Class Manufacturing (WCM) Preventive Maintenance (PM) tools at internal and external sites to maintain professional maintenance standards, including managing spare parts and consumables inventories.
Accountabilities:
- Responsible for supporting Tool and Die excellence throughout AMTBNA, with the focus on Canadian and U.S.-based sites.
- Responsible for ensuring blanked part quality through on-site tool and die support.
- Responsible for new tooling launches in the AMTBNA APQP process.
- Implement WCM PM tools at both internal AMTBNA and external blankers to ensure professional maintenance standards are followed, including appropriate spare parts / consumables inventories.
- Utilize lean tools and techniques to drive out loss and waste: deliver improvements in tool and die, and work with WCM teams (FI and PM) to track savings.
- Assist in the development and updates of Die Design standards, as well as Gauge Design.
- Assist with Supplier Audits of external blankers and tool and die shops, including initial assessments and regular audits.
- Assist with Lessons Learned feedback to the APQP team for tools and dies as well as part gauges.
- Proficient with 2D and 3D cad software such as AutoCAD Inventor and SolidWorks to develop the most efficient method of processing customers products.
- Assist the Tool and Die Manager and the Product Development team to determine feasibility for blank nestings and creation of strip layouts.
Skills, Knowledge, and Personal Traits:
- MS Office Microsoft Project Working Knowledge
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and/or Tooling certification or related field strongly preferred
- Personal Skills Advanced problem solving and analytical skills required
- Advanced organizational and planning skills
- Strong technical aptitude with 5+ years experience working with dies and tooling
- Previous experience working as a Tool & Die Maker
- Prior experience working within a Press Shop environment is strop referred
- Detail orientation Intermediary working knowledge of FMEA's is required
- Advanced knowledge of personal computer, standard corporate software, and applicable systems skills are required (Microsoft Office / AutoCAD). Knowledge of blank nesting software is an asset.
